International Day of Cooperatives.Over the weekend, the world celebrated the International Day of Cooperatives. Through our PFIs, RDF has the opportunity to directly engage with farmer cooperatives to further understand the agriculture and deliver technical assistance (TA) to improve the sector. These organised groups exist to share their successes and challenges to mobilise support to increase their lot economically, socially and in other ways.Cooperatives thrive in rural Ghana, built on neighbourliness and communal spirit which facilitate RDF’s impact in Ghana. Did you know that agriculture tops the share of the world’s top 300 cooperatives and mutuals?The latest sector rankings by World Cooperative Monitor (2023) includes the following sectors: insurance (32%), agriculture (35%), wholesale and retail trade (19%), banking and financial services (8%), industry and utilities (2%), health, education and social care (2%) and other services (2%).Cooperatives build a better future for all.
